14th February Library Lovers Day

Having spent quite a deal of time in The Family History Library in Salt Lake City while at Rootstech over the past week I have reignited my love of libraries.

Curt Witcher's keynote at Rootstech reminded genealogists how libraries can help them preserve memories for the future.

In Australia many libraries are celebrating on Valentine's Day, February 14th, with Library Lovers' Day sponsored by ALIA and PLA.

I am quite taken with this graphic that I found on Stephen's Lighthouse last week.  Genealogists, if you use libraries and learn stuff please give a thought to libraries and those who service and provide them on Valentine's Day.

Genealogists- show your love for libraries

Let the staff of the libraries you visit know of your affection for their institutions on Library Lovers' Day - 14th February.

The campaign is a combined advocacy event organised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) and Public Libraries Australia (PLA).

I have noticed that Sutherland Shire Library, Mosman Library and The Blue Mountains Library are organising events to celebrate the occasion, if your library is not hosting an event you could still pop in and spread your love.
