Lord Mayoral Reception - 1

This evening the Lord Mayor of Adelaide (in absentia) hosted a Civic Reception for a number of delegates, speakers and sponsors at the Adelaide Congress. As the Official Conference Blogger I was lucky enough to be included in the group invited to this function in the historic Queen Adelaide Room in the Adelaide Town Hall. On arrival guests were greeted by Deputy Lord Mayor, David Plumridge.

Following is my first set of photos from the event.

Congress - Genealogists for Families Dinner

Thanks to Kerry Farmer and Judy Webster for organising a dinner for those who support the 'Genealogists for Families' team with microloans through Kiva.  We gathered tonight at The Strathmore Hotel across the road from the Convention Centre.

I was especially thrilled to meet Sharn White and Kylie Willison (geneabloggers) whom I had not previously met in person.  We all tossed our small change into a cup passed around by Judy and raised $57 - enough for two new loans with a bit left over.

Thanks to Mr Geniaus for taking lots of photos on lots of cameras.

Congress - The People that you Meet - Day 1

The best thing about genealogy conferences and get togethers is being able to gather in one place with people who share one's passion. Even better is being able to meet in person those who have been one's virtual friends.

This collection of snaps includes images of old and new friends and some of the presenters at today's sessions. For those who have commented about the absence of Western Australians and Tasmanians  I am including a couple of photos of reps from these states.
