...but I did.
I have tried moderating comments for posts over one day old on the Geniaus blog and each day I am faced with more and more comments to moderate. It is so hard to sift out the genuine comments from the rubbish. Please accept my apologies if I have lost one of your comments amongst the garbage.
This morning I have turned moderation off and word verification on to see if that will help. I apologise to those people who are regular commenters on the blog. Please do not let this deter you as I really appreciate the conversations that the comments deliver.

there's good reasons for word verification ... so far I haven't but I likely will soon'ish, Jill. I'm sure most people won't mind at all!
I know how you feel but a captcha doesn't keep the spammers away.
I finally tried Akismet, and it's a wonder. I have moderation on with no captcha and Akismet files the spam away for me without asking for moderation. I can't recall ever seeing a real message in the spam file it creates.
Also, I just previewed then edited, and it wants me to captcha again, and needs multiple refreshes each time to find a pair I can read. That could discourage a casual commenter (especially one who previews and edits obsessively like I do).
I had to turn word verification on too Jill. So far I've had no further problems with spam (touch wood) and I hope people will persevere with the captcha as I do when I find time to comment.
So far so good. A day has gone by without any posts from Anonymous - hope this continues.
