The fruit is soaking and although I have covered the bowl I can smell the rum wafting from my kitchen. Tomorrow I will be baking the first of my Christmas cakes for this year. I have a trusty recipe from a friend, I don't have my grandmother's because she didn't have one. She just put in a bit of this and a bit of that and her cakes always turned out.

One of the joys of Christmas is the smell of Xmas baking, especially the cake brewing then cooking...or the pudding.
