Public Libraries - a Treasure Trove for Genealogists

Up front I have to admit that, 30 odd years ago, I was a Public Librarian at Waverley and Randwick Libraries.

As a family history sleuth I have visited a number of Public Libraries in Australia and The UK trying to find clues to our ancestry. Through Public Libraries we have found details of cousins, graves, homes, articles in newspapers and maps to show us 'where to go'. Obviously some residents of Colac in rural Victoria share my belief in the value of Public Libraries to a community.
